Puxton Park
Family Days Out
Puxton Park at Hewish: an adventure park with a miniature railway, boating lake, farm animals and an indoor soft play barn, half a mile from M5 junction 21.
What is at Puxton Park
Puxton Park is a family park at Hewish, on Cowslip Lane (BS24 6AH), about half a mile from junction 21 of the M5. It bills itself as an all-weather day out, and it is a mix of adventure area, farm and indoor play rather than a single attraction.
The outdoor adventure side includes Puxton Fort, an assault course, a high ropes course, a climbing wall and a bouncing pillow. Younger children have the Little Farmers’ Play Area, electric tractors, ride-on cars and a dig-and-play sandpit. A Severn Lamb miniature train runs from Puxton Station and is wheelchair accessible, and the boating lake has bumper boats and pedalos.
Animals and the indoor barn
The animal zone includes Puxton Farm and Dairy, where you can see award-winning pedigree cattle on a working dairy farm, a cheese factory, a monkey house, the Animal Discovery Barn, which hosts talks, shows and animal encounters, and Meerkat Manor. The indoor soft play barn is open all year, which makes the park a useful wet-weather option for a cottage stay near Weston-super-Mare. There is a farm shop on site, plus Meadows Restaurant and Clover Cafe.
Getting there and parking
Follow the A370 from the M5 towards Congresbury and Bristol. A bus stop sits at the park entrance. Car parking is free, and the main car park has room for roughly 260 cars. The village is covered on the Hewish page.
Planning your visit
The park is open every day, but check the current times on its website before you set out, because they can change. Allow most of a day if you want the rides, the animals and soft play. If you are bringing a dog, phone the park on 01934 523 500 first. If animals are the main draw, Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm near Wraxall is the larger zoo, while Puxton leans towards rides and play.
