Midelney West

Midelney West is the west wing of Midelney Manor, a Grade I listed house from the sixteenth century, standing among the open countryside of the Somerset Levels at Drayton, near Langport. It sleeps six. The wing has its own private entrance, reached by a short flight of steps from the parking area, and the age of the building means low beams and doorways in many rooms.

The ground floor holds a utility room with a WC and washing machine, an open-plan kitchen and diner, and a lounge with an inglenook fireplace and a wood burner, with the first basket of logs included. The kitchen has a range-style electric cooker, dishwasher, microwave and American-style fridge/freezer. Wi-Fi, electricity and central heating are all included in the rental. Upstairs on the first floor are two king-size bedrooms, a shower room, a bathroom and a separate WC. A further flight leads to the second floor, where the third bedroom is a double with a single bed in a separate area, set into the eaves.

Across the driveway is a private courtyard, fully enclosed, with a table and chairs, and beyond it a walled cottage-style garden. The off-road parking area takes two vehicles and sits within a shared working stable yard. The pub and shop are both 3 miles away.

One dog is welcome, with additional charges. Arrival is from 4pm and departure before 10am. It suits a family or a group of friends who like period character and do not mind stairs and low ceilings.
