Clarks Village
Family Days Out
Clarks Village in Street: over 90 outlet brands, restaurants and dog-friendly shopping on the site of the old C&J Clark factory, opened in 1993.
An outlet village on a factory site
Clarks Village is a shopping outlet in Street, with its address at Farm Road, BA16 0BB. It opened on 14 August 1993 on the site of the old C&J Clark factory buildings. Shoes are no longer made here, but the red brick chimney from the factory days still overlooks the site.
The village now has more than 90 brands selling at outlet prices. It is owned and run by Landsec. Brand lists change often, so look at the centre’s own directory before you set your heart on one shop.
Planning the day
The centre opens every day, with shorter hours on Sundays, and the times change through the year. Parking is free from 6pm, and the car park now has an electric vehicle charging hub. Check the Clarks Village website for current hours, daytime parking and its Access and Mobility page. Without a car, the nearest railway stations are Castle Cary, Taunton and Yeovil, each about 30 minutes away by road, and local buses run to Street from Yeovil, Taunton, Bridgwater, Wells, Glastonbury, Bath and Bristol.
The village describes itself as dog friendly and invites visitors to shop and dine with their dogs. Individual shops and restaurants may have their own rules.
Beyond the shops
Glastonbury is nearby, and the Tor and the Abbey are separate visits in their own right. A common plan is a morning at one of them and an afternoon at the outlets, or the reverse if the weather turns.
If you would rather have a cathedral than a clothes rail, Wells Cathedral is the other classic day out in this part of Somerset.
Who it suits
Clarks Village suits a mixed group where some want a few hours of shopping and others want a coffee, a meal or a stroll with the dog.
