The Retreat

The Retreat is a 300-year-old house in Lympsham, on the edge of the Mendip Hills. Bleadon is also nearby. The hall leads to a snug with a woodburning stove and a sitting room with three windows. The kitchen has a quartz worktop and an island, with a second log burner and a seating area opposite, and the oak dining table sits in the conservatory. A utility room and a boot room with an outside shower lead off.

There are four bedrooms and three bathrooms. A king-size on the ground floor has a bath with a separate double shower. Upstairs, the master king has an en-suite shower room, and a second king and a twin both keep their original fireplaces. The family bathroom has a free-standing bath and a walk-in shower. Two single z-beds are available. A highchair and a travel cot are available.

Bi-folding doors from the dining area open onto a patio and a lawned garden with furniture and a barbecue. Parking is off-road for four cars, and a charging point for electric cars is available for a flat fee paid to the owner. The shop is 0.6 miles away and the pub is 1.8 miles. Smoking and pets are not allowed, nor are stag or hen parties. The house is in a residential area, so keep noise down after 11pm. A bond is payable. From June to September, bookings start on a Friday.

It suits a big family or a group of couples who want a ground-floor bedroom, parking for several cars and a garden.
