Oakfield

Oakfield is a large house in Hillcommon, near Taunton and Wellington, set in seven acres of gardens at the end of a tree-lined drive. It sleeps 16 across six bedrooms: a super-king, three king-size rooms and two family rooms, each a twin with a mezzanine double above. Five bathrooms serve them, and there is also a ground-floor WC.

Downstairs there are two lounges, one with a working open fire, plus a lounge/kitchen/diner with huge bi-fold doors. The dining table seats twelve and a breakfast bar sits behind it. The kitchen has a double oven, a large hob, a microwave, a fridge/freezer, a dishwasher, a wine cooler, an air fryer and several coffee machines, while a utility room holds a washing machine and tumble dryer. Two travel cots and two highchairs are available.

The house also has a games room with a snooker table, a playroom with table football and toys, and a private gym. Outside, a heated swimming pool with a hard cover is open April to September, and a separate pool house has an oven, fridge/freezer and shower room. The hot tub is available all year. There is a wood-fired pizza oven, a gas barbecue, a climbing frame and a table tennis table.

Parking is ample, on a large driveway. Two dogs are welcome by arrangement and must stay downstairs; there is a charge per dog. Gas for the barbecue is charged separately and paid to the owners before arrival, and an accidental damage deposit is payable when booking, which can be waived for a fee. A pub and shop are within walking distance and the beach is 15 miles away. Arrival is from 16:00 and departure before 10:00.

It suits a large family or two families travelling together who want a pool, a hot tub and plenty of indoor space for children.
